LPS PARTNER PAGE

CONCURRENT

ENROLLMENT

This page should serve as a resource for the partners of LPS working with ACC on concurrent enrollment. This page will be updated regularly and allows for a 'one-stop' resource for you to navigate requirements, processes and deadlines.

The partnership between LPS and ACC allows students to get started on their college education early and to get ahead on pathways for degree programs from nursing, to cybersecurity, and everything in between. Saving students time and money.

Concurrent students have access to state programs and funding to help them pay for their education even after high school, they are more likely to attend college, and they have the ability to transfer credits earned to other colleges and universities towards a range of degree paths.

This is not a public page, it should not be shared out with students or parents.

@ACC/
CAMPUS SELECT

These are courses offered at one of the ACC campuses and/or online through ACC.

@HS/
HS SELECT

These are the courses offered at the high schools through instructor certification and a partnership with the academic department at ACC and the Concurrent Enrollment Office.

ASCENT

ASCENT, or Accelerating Students through Concurrent Enrollment, is a 5th-year high school program where eligible students who have successfully completed at least 9 college credits prior to high school graduation can receive another year of college at no cost to them. While tuition is covered by the school district, students may be responsible for the cost of textbooks and fees. They will delay their HS diploma by 1 year, but take classes on ACC campuses just like any first year college student.

TREP

The Teacher Recruitment Education and Preparation (TREP) program was created by Colorado’s Legislature in 2022 and provides the opportunity for qualified students in a teaching career pathway to receive another two years of college at no cost to them. While tuition is covered by the school district, students may be responsible for the cost of textbooks and fees. They will delay their HS diploma by 2 years, but take classes on ACC campuses just like any first year college student.

ACCUPLACER TESTING

For concurrent enrollment students, the student needs to apply and receive an S# so that the test score is stored under their account.

Submit a request to your CE Specialist. This allows your specialist to flag the student testing as paid for by ACC Concurrent Enrollment, it will then be free to the student. If the student registers without notifying ACC CE the payment cannot be refunded.

The student can register online to test at any ACC campus location. They will get an automatic email that does state the fee. It can be ignored as CE will be charged the test fee to allow the student to test for no charge to them.

Students can use online resources for free to prepare for their Accuplacer test.

The day of your test be sure to be on time, bring a valid government issued ID, and any other materials. Students can view the full procedures online or via their confirmation email.

ADDITIONAL ACCUPLACER RESOURCES

VIRTUAL TESTING

Students who prefer to test at home can register for this alternative option and a link from ACC will be provided for 'Examity' to proctor virtually. The fee for this option is $35 and is not covered by ACC.

UNDERSTANDING 'FREE' CE

Concurrent Enrollment (CE) is 'FREE' to the student as long as they understand that they have a responsibility to complete a series of tasks so that funding is complete and correct. Here are the 3 funding categories and some things to know about each.

DISTRICT + COF  + FEES = TOTAL $$$

District funding
---
TUITION

The district may prepay tuition at the Community College rate for courses that apply to an approved program of study (certificate or degree) taken at the Institution of Higher Education for any student who qualifies to enroll in college-level course work and has shown evidence of responsibility for, and commitment to, successfully completing post-secondary courses.

COSTS | Concurrent Enrollment courses on an LPS High School campus are FREE

COSTS | Concurrent Enrollment courses on the ACC campus or other college campuses - students are responsible for costs outside of tuition: college fees, textbooks…  As a new college student, students along with their parent/guardian are expected to check the myACC account ( or other college account ) for fees they owe prior to the start of their course. Some courses have high fees.  Check with the cashier’s office cashier.acc@arapahoe.edu 303-797-5638.  ACC | How to check your fees

State Funding/COF
---
TUITION

The Colorado Opportunity Fund pays a portion of each college credit for every Colorado Resident.

*ALL Concurrent Enrollment students are automatically considered residents while in CE.

Students should leave the checkbox on their ACC admissions application as 'apply on my behalf' if they would like ACC to automatically apply for COF for them.

COF errors for CE students are between the cashiering office and the student. In an effort to lessen the amount of students who have errors. the list is provided to CE staff regularly and shared with high school partners to help correct any errors. Simultaneously students are receiving printed letters, phone calls and emails from ACC regarding the errors.

IMPORTANT: If a student does not apply for COF or correct the errors to allow that portion to be paid, they will be responsible for the amount owed. It will place a financial hold on their account. It will also prevent them from being registered for future courses until paid.

Frequently asked questions

Some fields have invalid or missing information.

FEES

@ACC courses: it is possible that  courses/programs will have fees and costs associated. The student is responsible for this portion of their bill. (i.e. NUA)

@HS courses: ACC cannot charge fees for at high school courses. However, some high schools have fees associated for programs like EMT.

ASCENT/TREP: Fees are not covered and are the responsibility of the student.

ONLINE COURSES: As online courses starting Fall 2023 will be the same cost as all other CE courses, students can now take online courses if approved by the building level CE Coordinator.

Online courses have a high failure rate and we discourage students from using this modality of learning. If a student is taking an online course as self-pay the cost is at the higher rate.
