Colorado Governor, Jared Polis, Addresses ACC CE Instructors at the 2023 Professional Development Night

@ACC/
CAMPUS SELECT
These are courses offered at one of the ACC campuses and/or online through ACC.

@HS/
HS SELECT
These are the courses offered at the high schools through instructor certification and a partnership with the academic department at ACC and the Concurrent Enrollment Office.
ASCENT
ASCENT, or Accelerating Students through Concurrent Enrollment, is a 5th-year high school program where eligible students who have successfully completed at least 9 college credits prior to high school graduation can receive another year of college at no cost to them. While tuition is covered by the school district, students may be responsible for the cost of textbooks and fees. They will delay their HS diploma by 1 year, but take classes on ACC campuses just like any first year college student.
TREP
The Teacher Recruitment Education and Preparation (TREP) program was created by Colorado’s Legislature in 2022 and provides the opportunity for qualified students in a teaching career pathway to receive another two years of college at no cost to them. While tuition is covered by the school district, students may be responsible for the cost of textbooks and fees. They will delay their HS diploma by 2 years, but take classes on ACC campuses just like any first year college student.
QUICK UPDATES

CE Students are held to ACC attendance and academic standing. All students are held to the same standards, expectations, policies, and guidelines.

UNDERSTANDING 'FREE' CE
Concurrent Enrollment (CE) is 'FREE' to the student as long as they understand that they have a responsibility to complete a series of tasks so that funding is complete and correct. Here are the 3 funding categories and some things to know about each.
DISTRICT + COF + FEES = TOTAL $$$
District funding
---
TUITION
Currently, funding is determined at the district level and can vary per district within the state of Colorado.
State Funding/COF
---
TUITION
The Colorado Opportunity Fund pays a portion of each college credit for every Colorado Resident.
*ALL Concurrent Enrollment students are automatically considered residents while in CE.
Students should leave the checkbox on their ACC admissions application as 'apply on my behalf' if they would like ACC to automatically apply for COF for them.
COF errors for CE students are between the cashiering office and the student. In an effort to lessen the amount of students who have errors. the list is provided to CE staff regularly and shared with high school partners to help correct any errors. Simultaneously students are receiving printed letters, phone calls and emails from ACC regarding the errors.
IMPORTANT: If a student does not apply for COF or correct the errors to allow that portion to be paid, they will be responsible for the amount owed. It will place a financial hold on their account. It will also prevent them from being registered for future courses until paid.
FEES
Currently, payment of fees is determined at the district level and can vary per district within the state of Colorado.
@ACC courses: it is possible that courses/programs will have fees and costs associated.
@HS courses: ACC cannot charge fees for at high school courses. However, some high schools have fees associated.
ASCENT/TREP: Students will incur fees that all ACC students are responsible for. It is determined by each district if the student is responsible for this portion or if it will be covered.

Instructors, most districts are starting roster checks - please work with your district rep to confirm rosters in your MyACC.
WELCOME BACK! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
✏️REMINDER: submit your spring syllabus to our SharePoint: CE HS Syllabi & Resources
The grading deadline for Fall 2023 is set for Thursday, December 21. We recognize that all districts have different endings for the semester, and we allow teachers up to 48 hours after the last day of class. You must submit grades in myACC under the Faculty Grade Assignment channel.
Northrop Grumman hiring managers will be coming to the Sturm Collaboration Campus in Castle Rock on Wednesday, November 1st---they would like to meet with technology students from 1-2pm. They will highlight their early career apprenticeship and other job opportunities for students at ACC. Northrop Grumman would also like to hear from students, so bring your questions! The focus for this event is on technology students: Cyber, Secure Software and Computer Science. This is an informal event; however it is a great chance to meet industry leaders—and ask questions. It will be in the Community Room which is on the first floor at Sturm. We hope you can join us. If you have questions or need accommodations please contact: Kristi.Strother@arapahoe.edu
IT has passed along this quick resource document on accessing your MyACC! :)
As you are doing roster checks you may see only a students preferred name. You may also notice ones with names that are WRONG first name but same last name. This generally means upon applying with a parent that they used the autofill and the application put in the parent name in the preferred or legal name field. We can assist in changing the preferred name but for legal name fields, a demographic update form is required.
Do you have students in your classroom asking you how to apply?
Here is the updated HOW TO APPLY video - this is now updated without the selective service section as that has now been removed startting Fall 23'
