This page should serve as a resource for the partners of DCSD working with ACC on concurrent enrollment. This page will be updated regularly and allows for a 'one-stop' resource for you to navigate requirements, processes and deadlines.
The partnership between DCSD and ACC allows students to get started on their college education early and to get ahead on pathways for degree programs from nursing, to cybersecurity, and everything in between. Saving students time and money.
Concurrent students have access to state programs and funding to help them pay for their education even after high school, they are more likely to attend college, and they have the ability to transfer credits earned to other colleges and universities towards a range of degree paths.

CAMPUS SELECT
These are courses offered at one of the ACC campuses and/or online through ACC.
@HS/
HS SELECT
These are the courses offered at the high schools through instructor certification and a partnership with the academic department at ACC and the Concurrent Enrollment Office.
ASCENT
ASCENT, or Accelerating Students through Concurrent Enrollment, is a 5th-year high school program where eligible students who have successfully completed at least 9 college credits prior to high school graduation can receive another year of college at no cost to them. While tuition is covered by the school district, students may be responsible for the cost of textbooks and fees. They will delay their HS diploma by 1 year, but take classes on ACC campuses just like any first year college student.
TREP
The Teacher Recruitment Education and Preparation (TREP) program was created by Colorado’s Legislature in 2022 and provides the opportunity for qualified students in a teaching career pathway to receive another two years of college at no cost to them. While tuition is covered by the school district, students may be responsible for the cost of textbooks and fees. They will delay their HS diploma by 2 years, but take classes on ACC campuses just like any first year college student.

Students who prefer to test at home can register for this alternative option and a link from ACC will be provided for 'Examity' to proctor virtually. The fee for this option is $35 and is not covered by ACC.

UNDERSTANDING 'FREE' CE
Concurrent Enrollment (CE) is 'FREE' to the student as long as they understand that they have a responsibility to complete a series of tasks so that funding is complete and correct. Here are the 3 funding categories and some things to know about each.

Currently, funding is determined at the district level and can vary per district within the state of Colorado. DCSD pays tuition, less the COF funding.
@ACC courses: DCSD allows seniors to take 1 course at an ACC campus location. This currently does not include online courses due to the difference in tuition. DCSD pays tuition, less the COF funding.
@HS courses: DCSD covers tuition for these courses, less the COF funding.
ASCENT/TREP: DCSD allows students in these programs to take up to 12 credit hours per semester. Tuition is paid by DCSD, less the COF funding. Some programs like Cosmetology allow for more credits to be taken while still being paid by the district. Approval for these programs is required by the district. There is an unlimited amount of program slots, as long a the student meets all requirements including having at least 9 college credits before graduating high school.

The Colorado Opportunity Fund pays a portion of each college credit for every Colorado Resident.
*ALL Concurrent Enrollment students are automatically considered residents while in CE.
Students should leave the checkbox on their ACC admissions application as 'apply on my behalf' if they would like ACC to automatically apply for COF for them.
COF errors for CE students are between the cashiering office and the student. In an effort to lessen the amount of students who have errors. the list is provided to CE staff regularly and shared with high school partners to help correct any errors. Simultaneously students are receiving printed letters, phone calls and emails from ACC regarding the errors.
IMPORTANT: If a student does not apply for COF or correct the errors to allow that portion to be paid, they will be responsible for the amount owed. It will place a financial hold on their account. It will also prevent them from being registered for future courses until paid.
FEES
@ACC courses: it is possible that courses/programs will have fees and costs associated. The student is responsible for this portion of their bill. (i.e. NUA)
@HS courses: ACC cannot charge fees for at high school courses. However, some high schools have fees associated for programs like EMT.
ASCENT/TREP: Fees are not covered and are the responsibility of the student.

We are the only national organization supporting programs, practitioners, and policy to advance concurrent and dual enrollment programs.

DCSD- Two years has flown by and each of you made my job so much easier. I truly cannot express my gratitude to each and every one of you.
After much consideration, I have accepted a position and will be leaving ACC. I know many of you are out since this is summer, but I wanted to be sure to be the one to tell you.
My last day will be July 5th. Your new contact will be in touch and I am leaving everything intact and passing it along to the team (spreadsheets etc) so that the transition can be as easy as possible.
On to the next chapter!

Welcome back DCSD! We have been working hard to update the application status for CE students at your schools. Due to a variety of reasons, we had to adjust the spreadsheets, but you will still be able to see the list of all missing applications on the "Errors in Full" tab.
